may wrap-up, favourites and others 🌿

Dear reader,

May has been a great month, and for one reason only: I PASSED THE WRITTEN EXAMS OF MY COMPETITION. Basically, if you don’t know, to become a literature teacher in France (to teach 11-18 years old) you have to pass a “competition” (un concours in French). First you have to pass the written exams (only the best are chosen) and then you have to pass the oral exams (again, only the best are chosen). So basically in a few weeks I’ll be taking the oral exams and if everything goes well I may be a literature teacher in September! How crazy is that?! (I also validated by second semester, woop woop!)

Obviously many other good things happened and I’m proud to say that my life is way healthier today. I’m not 100% okay but I’m getting there. At least July will be brighter!

So without further ado, let’s jump right in and wrap-up the month of May.

 WHAT I READ

I haven’t read as much as in April, but I still ended up reading 7 books and some comics in May. It’s an okay number considering all I did and the fact that I had to go back to studying, I must say I’m still really proud of myself!

Here is what I read in May:

  • Furyborn by Claire Legrand, 5/5 stars

2.png

  • The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu, 4/5 stars

3.png

  • Kingsbane by Claire Legrand, 5/5 stars (ARC)

4

  • Racing the Sun by J. R. Koop, 3/5 stars

5

  • Au revoir là-haut by Pierre Lemaître, 5/5 stars

6

  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, 5/5 stars (re-read)

7

  • The Paper and Hearts Society by Lucy Powrie, 4.5/5 stars (ARC)

8

  • Many of the Amazing Spider-Man (2014) issues, overall 4/5 stars

 WHAT I LOVED

  • Taking some time for myself

As May started I made myself a priority and cleared many of my days to stay at home and to take care of myself. It really made me realise how self care is important and how I should listen to my body more often. I really hope I’ll keep finding time for myself in the future like that because my mental health has been so much better ever since I did.

  • Blogging

I don’t know if you realised, but I have been posting regularly on this account ever since April started. Though I’ll now be busy again I’m trying really hard to keep blogging as I absolutely adore it and consider it being one of my favourite self care activities. Now all I need to make an habit off is blog hopping and commenting on others’ work, because you all are so talented and brilliant, and it should be recognised.

  • The trailer of Spider-Man: Far From Home

When the official full of Endgame spoilers trailer dropped I completely lost it. I was at work and kept replaying it over and over again. I think I may have annoyed many of my Twitter followers as I only talked about it and kept RTing posts about it. I was unstoppable.

You may know my love for Spider-Man by now, and for Tom Holland. Well, this trailer was everything to me. This movie is going to be everything and I can’t wait to see it over and over again in theatres in July.

  • The cover reveal of Supernova

If you don’t know I am obsessed with the Renegades trilogy. I cried when I finished Archennemies because I couldn’t believe what just happened and because I really couldn’t wait for the sequel. Well, the same day the FFH trailer dropped the world decided to kill me for good and to reveal the Supernova cover. I couldn’t stop screaming about it, and honestly still can’t. HOW GLORIOUS IS IT?!

  • The Emporium series

As I received the ARC of Kingsbane I was kinda forced to read this series. Well, little did I know that I would end up being obsessed with it. It ended up being my first real favourites of 2019 and is basically everything I love in fantasy. I want to keep talking about it forever and ever.

  • Meeting Spider-Man again

Did you think my obsession over Spider-Man wasn’t there this month? I basically rewatched every Spider-Man movie there is and went back to Disneyland Paris to meet him again. I will never ever shut up about this character, I guess.

 CHECKING ON MY MARCH GOALS

As usual I set myself some goals back in April and it’s time to see how I did. I wanted to save money (let’s say I have been able to pay my trip to London), to enjoy more time with my family and friends (which I did), to get back to studying (well, I had no choice) and to read at least 10 books (XXX).

WHAT I WANT TO DO IN JUNE

Here is what I want to keep focusing on during June:

  • Saving more money,
  • Studying better than ever,
  • Becoming a literature teacher,
  • Keep blogging and reading.

And that’s it!

I really had a great month, though I am now mostly stressed out and sad about my competition. But I just have to keep going and to hold on!

How was your month? How many books have you read? What did you love? Tell me all about it!

Love always,

Clara
