Genres I love to read during Spring, paired with recommendations | The Spring Diary 2022 #1 πŸŒ·πŸ“’

Dear reader,

I know that’s it’s almost summer already, but I had to at least post one seasonal blog post for spring. I thought about which one to bring back, and decided that we’re always looking for new books to read.

Therefor here are the genres I love to read during Spring, all paired with recommendations!

β₯ Contemporary novels

I don’t know why but like many people I’m guessing, I’ve always associated spring with contemporary novels. There are so many to read which feels like spring, they even have soft pastel covers to go with! It’s not my favourite genre but it’s definitely the season I’ll read as many as I can.

If you are looking for contemporary novels to read this Spring, here are three random recommendations:

  • The Switch by Beth O’Leary
  • The Yearbook by Holly Bourne
  • What’s Not to Love by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

β₯ Romance novels

Obviously spring means romance for me. All the flowers blooming feel like opening your heart to someone (or not). I read a lot of romance novels throughout the year, but when February starts I tend to go to this genre more often than usual.

If you are looking for romance novels to read this Spring, here are three random recommendations:

  • You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
  • Book Lovers by Emily Henry
  • The Bromance Bookclub by Lyssa Kay Adams

β₯ Classics

Like romance novels, I always read classics throughout the year. However I tend to pick some with more specifics aspects, such as classics which are set in nature or which talk about love (usually tragic love story, but you know).

If you are looking for classics to read this Spring, here are three random recommendations:

  • Emma by Jane Austen
  • Tess of the d’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
  • The Lily of the valley by Balzac

β₯ Graphic novels

Finally, I mostly read graphic novels during spring, maybe because they always feel light and sweet. I haven’t read a lot in my life but spring is always the season I get back to this genre the most.

If you are looking for graphic novels to read this Spring, here are three random recommendations:

  • The Tea Dragon Society by Kay O’Neill
  • Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki
  • Heartstopper by Alice Oseman

And that’s all!

What do you love to read during Spring?

Love always,

Clara
