Summer is going to be quite different this year because COVID-19. Here in France, we are allowed to travel, especially in our own country. Like every year in August I’m leaving for a month in Corsica to see some members of my family (it’s a French island), so I’ll be doing lots of traveling as we have 9-10 hours of road to get to the South of France, a night spent on a boat to get to Corsica and then a 3-4 hours of road again to reach our village in the mountains.
If like me you’ll travel a bit for the summer, here are three books to read (or listen! we love audiobooks while traveling in this house!) while hitting the road.
❥ Listen to Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
It’s no surprise I’m going to yet again recommend my favourite book ever, Daisy Jones and the Six. But, let me explain myself on this one! I discovered this book last year in August, while I was in Corsica. It takes us 1 to 2 hours to go to the beach, and since I was participating in the N.E.W.T.s readathon I thought it was some quality reading time wasted. So I decided to try audiobooks, and everyone was talking about this one… for a reason. It is, by far, the most amazing audiobook I have ever listened to. It has a full cast and because the book has no narration in it but is only composed of interviews, it makes you feel as if you were watching a documentary on an old rock band. It’s absolutely perfect for any situation, and will make traveling go faster. Trust me on this.
❥ Read The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill
While traveling, you’re probably looking into short and entertaining books to keep you going. May I present you the cutest graphic novel I have ever read, The Tea Dragon Society. Time will fly by and you will be transported into this magical world, leaving it only to want a tea dragon more than anything. It’s perfect if you can read in the car (I personally get sick) while not having to read a full novel at the same time.
❥ Read The Paper and Hearts Society by Lucy Powrie
Finally, I am once again recommending one of the most amazing YA contemporary series I know, The Paper and Hearts Society. It’s entertaining, sweet, talks about deep subjects too and it involves a road trip. If you’re looking for something quick to read (while still being a full novel for longer rides) with adorable characters and an amazing bookish storyline, this one is for you.
And that’s all!
What books would you recommend to read while traveling?
Love always (hope you’re all safe),
