Wrapping up the O.W.L.s Readathon 2020 📚✨

Dear reader,

Once again the O.W.L.s readathon was a total success and way too much fun. For the first time I even vlogged it all, which made the experience even more unique, and I’ll be eager in the future to relive it.

Anyway, it’s time to properly wrap-up the O.W.L.s readathon 2020!

The Magical Readathon was created by Book Roast in 2018. This readathon is inspired by the Harry Potter world and happens both in April and in August. You first have the O.W.L.s readathon, and then the N.E.W.T.s readathon. If you want to know more about it, make sure to watch Book Roast video (linked before) in which she explains it all.

This year I decided to go for the most challenging career, the alchemist one. It’s also one I was extremely interested into, so it made sense I would go for it. I had to read all of the prompts to do so, and I’m happy to say that I read it all under three weeks.

Here is what I had to read:

  • Ancient Runes: Every Heart a Doorway
  • Arithmancy: Imagine Me
  • Astronomy: The Tea Dragon Society
  • Care of Magical Creatures: The Storm Crow
  • Charms: Frankly in Love
  • Defense Against the Dark Arts: Daughter of the Pirate King
  • Divination: There’s Something About Sweetie
  • Herbology: Master & Apprentice
  • History of Magic: TMI and TID mangas
  • Muggle Studies: Evelina
  • Potions: Claude Gueux
  • Transfiguration: Nocturna

As I vlogged the whole thing I won’t be writing every that happened each week, but I’ll link the video and will write down everything that I read!

During the first week I read (for the OWLs only):

  • Imagine Me by Tahereh Mafi, 3.5/5 stars
  • The Storm Crow by Kalyn Josephson, 3.75/5 stars
  • Evelina by Frances Burney, 5/5 stars

During the second week I read (for the OWLs only):

  • The Mortal Instruments, the graphic novel, volumes 2 and 3 by Cassandra Clare, 4/5 stars
  • Master & Apprentice by Claudia Gray, 4/5 stars
  • Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire, 3/5 stars
  • There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon, 4.5/5 stars
  • Claude Gueux by Victor Hugo, 4/5 stars

During the third week I read (for the OWLs only):

  • Nocturna by Maya Montagne, 5/5 stars
  • The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill, 4/5 stars
  • The Infernal Devices, the graphic novel, volumes 1, 2 and 3 by Cassandra Clare, 4/5 stars
  • Frankly In Love by David Yoon, 3/5 stars
  • Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller, 3/5 stars

I kept vlogging as I decided to read 30 books this month, so you can watch the other videos on my channel but I’ll make sure to write a blog post to talk about this.

And that’s it!

Did you join the readathon? What career did you choose?

Love always,

  1. WOW, congrats on completing your OWLs and finishing all the prompts! That is very impressive 😀 Alchemist sounds like such a cool career! I went for Magizoologist, which was lots of fun but definitely not as much work 😉
