In 2019 I started a new recommendation series where I recommend you different types of books for each seasons, usually in three different blog posts. Last year I therefor recommend you contemporary books, fantasy books and classics for summer, books with a cosy mood, a spooky mood and an academic mood for autumn, and books to read on a snow day, to feel joyful and to read more classics for winter.
Obviously I am now back with three contemporary novels to read this Spring!
❥ Emergency Contact by Mary H. K. Choi
I read this book two years ago now and fell in love with it. Its pastel cover would be the perfect novel to take pictures of in front of blossoming trees (if only we could go outside!) and its story is bittersweet but moved me a lot. I will always recommend this book as the sarcastic version of Fangirl, so if you want to read about a baker boy and a university student definitely go for this one.
❥ Heartstopper by Alice Oseman
I believe everyone has read those graphic novels by now, but aren’t they the perfect pick for Spring? I read it when it wasn’t yet published years ago, following it as a webcomic (I still do) and it’s the sweetest story to read when the sun is shining through your window. Prepare to fall in love!
❥ American Royals by Katharine McGee
I read this book last Summer but for some reasons I feel as if it’d be a good read for Spring because it’s extremely fun and addictive, and you could read it quickly while enjoying the sun (in your garden or through the window). It’s not the most amazing book out there, but I enjoyed it a lot as it was an entertaining read.
And that’s it!
What contemporary novels would you recommend to read during Spring?
