December wrap-up, favourites and others 🌟

Dear reader,

I feel as if December lasted forever but I’m grateful for it as I did many, many, many things. I won’t talk too much about the end of the year because my 2019 recap post is coming next week, but I’m overall really happy about it and am so glad to write my last wrap-up of 2019. I can’t believe I’ve been blogging actively for a year now and writing wrap-ups are always my favourites as I love to re-read them and remind myself of all the amazing things I discovered or did or read.

December has been overall a great month, though I started it being extra sick and then the strikes in France started and it was all a mess, but I changed it around and had a lot of fun in the end!

Without further ado, here is my December 2019 wrap-up!

 WHAT I READ

In December I read 15 books (5182 pages), mostly because I hosted a 24 hours readathon but also because I dedicated an entire weekend to read as well. I also had more free time with the holidays and was motivated to reach 120 books read in 2019 (though my goal was to read 100 books technically).

Here is everything I read in December:

  • Pet by Akwaeke Emezi, 3/5 stars

6.png

  • Brexit Romance by Clémentine Beauvais, 3.75/5 stars

7.png

  • Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, 3/5 stars

8

  • Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, 5/5 stars (re-read)

9

  • Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson, unrated

10

  • She Be Damned by M. J. Tia, 2/5 stars

11

  • Betsy and Lilibet by Sophie Duffy, 3/5 stars

12

  • Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray, 4/5 stars

13

  • We Met in December by Rosie Curtis, 4/5 stars

14

  • The Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher, 4/5 stars

15

  • The 12 Days of Dash and Lily by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, 2.5/5 stars

16.png

  • Moonlight Over Manhattan by Sarah Morgan, 3/5 stars

17

  • Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, 5/5 stars (re-read)

 WHAT I LOVED

  • Watching movies

2.png

During December I watched and rewatched ton of movies, not only Christmassy ones (though I did watch a lot of those) but also Disney movies or animated movies in general. I used to be the kind of person who couldn’t concentrate during movies but ever since I had my movie card for the theaters I’ve learned to love them, and apparently I decided to binge watch a lot as I couldn’t go to the movies properly.

  • New make-up

3

This may be something silly, but I love make-up. At the start of December I treated myself with some new products, though they aren’t fancy or anything, and then at Christmas I got some stuff to organise them all and also some new brushes. I have been very happy, doing my make-up relaxes me and I’ve been able to experience new looks which made me feel beautiful.

  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

4

I have been a huge Star Wars fan for a while now, so obviously I went to see the last movie. The Last Jedi meant a lot to me, it was here when I wasn’t feeling okay and I have been able to share my love for it with my friend Lucie. Even though TROS isn’t perfect, even though it should be called out for many, many things, I still cried and have been feeling empty ever since I saw it because it felt weird to say goodbye to it. I loved some moments, disliked some others but no matter what I wouldn’t see myself without Star Wars today.

  • Going out with my friends

5

I haven’t been able to really go out in December because of the strikes in France but I did go out a few times and I always had a blast. I love my friends so much and I missed not seeing them for so, so long. In 2020 I’ll try my best to go out more and to share more moments with them.

  • The holidays

6

Finally, December meant Christmas and the New Year for me, and I had fun at both. It wasn’t my favourite Christmas but I still loved it, and I had such a fun New Year. I wasn’t out or anything, but I really loved sharing this moment with my loved ones. To 2020!

 CHECKING ON MY DECEMBER GOALS

In December, I wanted to njoy every day (which I did, despite the strikes and me being sick at the beginning of the month), to keep up reading, blogging and bookstagramming (I didn’t blog much, but I’ll soon be back on schedule), to study and work more (which I didn’t really do, and that needs to change), and to take better care of myself (which, overall, I did).

WHAT I WANT TO DO IN JANUARY

In January I want to:

  • Study and work more,
  • Keep up reading, blogging and bookstagramming (for real this time),
  • Do all the adult stuff I’ve been putting away for a while,
  • Register myself for the driving licence,
  • Start writing again.

And that’s it!

December has been busy but good and I’m now ready to start 2020 on the right foot!

How was your December? What did you read? What was your favourite book of the month?

Love always,

Clara

  1. Looks like you had a great December! 😊 I definitely agree with you on Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares – I liked it but it wasn’t anything super special. I still plan on reading the sequel, but it’s not very high on my priority list right now 😄

  2. So many amazing books! We still need to go watch the latest Star Wars movie, for some reason I’ve been putting it off. We started rewatching the old movies in publication order, and already watched episodes 4-6. 🙂
Good luck with your January goals!

  3. wow, it seems like you had an amazing reading month!
i recently found out dash and lily will become a netflix movie soon, which i found to be really exciting. i don’t have many memories about the book either, but it has been a while since i last read it, but i love the other adaptations we have from this duo – david levithan and rachel cohn – so i have high expectations for this one.
it’s lovely to see how much star wars means to you and i’m glad you enjoyed this last movie. i don’t know anything about this franchise if i’m being honest, except for what i’ve picked up over the years at pop culture (like darth vader and luke skywalker) but i have a couple friends who are huge fans. they ended up not liking this last movie as much, but i’m happy to hear it didn’t ruin your overall love for the series.
wishing you luck on all your january goals! hopefully, i’ll start classes to get my driver’s license this january as well and i’m excited, but mostly nervous, lol. hope you have an amazing start to the new year! 💛

    1. Oh I didn’t know about this but I’m intrigued! Is it going to come out for Christmas 2020?
Well tbh I didn’t really like the movie haha but it didn’t ruin anything, my love for SW is stronger than whatever they would do with it!
Thank you for everything! You got this! ❤
