Five tv shows to binge watch this Autumn 🖥☕️

Dear reader,

The other someone on Instagram asked me if I could talk more about tv shows and movies on my blog, and they couldn’t have asked me it at a better time as I was already writing this blog post!

You may have understood by now, but I love Autumn. I never know if it’s my favourite season because I love Winter as well (can both be my favourite seasons?) but I wait all year for its return. Obviously during Autumn I tend to read tons of cosy and spooky books, but I also have certain tv shows I love to watch.

Without further ado, here are five tv shows to binge watch this Fall!

 GILMORE GIRS

What is it about: The show’s main focus is on the relationship between single mother Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory, who live in Stars Hollow, Connecticut, a small fictional town filled with colorful characters. via Wikipedia

Why I believe it’s great for Autumn: This show is very, very, very slow and can be watched basically like a cartoon. It’s about a town full of colorful and different characters which you’ll never want to leave. It’s mostly set during Autumn and Winter, and will bring you all the cosy vibes.

To watch when: It’s quiet outside, you made yourself a giant latte and you want to spend an afternoon doing nothing.

 STRANGER THINGS

What is it about: Set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in November 1983, the first season focuses on the investigation into the disappearance of a young boy amid supernatural events occurring around the town, including the appearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities who helps the missing boy’s friends in their search. via Wikipedia

Why I believe it’s great for Autumn: It’s spooky, yet cute, and will give you all the feels. It’s my all time favourite show so I may not be objective but I’ve been obsessed with it ever since the first season aired, and I still haven’t been disappointed by it. The second season also is set around Halloween, so what more would you want?

To watch when: There’s a storm outside, you can’t go out and you need something exciting to watch.

 THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA

What is it about: Sabrina Spellman must reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit. via Wikipedia

Why I believe it’s great for Autumn: I still haven’t finished watching it because I needed a break from it last year (I thought it was too childish for my tastes) but I still believe it’s a great show for Autumn. Obviously it’s awfully spooky, quite dark and it’ll be your best companion on a rainy Halloween evening. (I am still watching it because I love the characters and how some feminist issues are being brought to the screen.)

To watch when: It’s past midnight, everything is quiet in your house and you’re left alone in your room with a cup of tea and your cat on your laps.

 THAT ’70S SHOW

What is it about: The series focuses on the lives of a group of six teenage friends living in fictional Point Place, Wisconsin, from May 17, 1976 to December 31, 1979. via Wikipedia

Why I believe it’s great for Autumn: I always love to watch it during Autumn, maybe because the story started in September… or for no reasons at all. It’s one of my favourite shows but I don’t talk a lot about it as the last season was super problematic to watch and as one of the actors have been judged for rape in the last few years. I still wanted to include it here, excuse me for it, but the first seasons are still adorably cute and funny.

To watch when: You’re with your friends, have tons of chocolates and sweets to eat and have the afternoon free.

 DOWNTON ABBEY

What is it about: The series, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey between 1912 and 1926, depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants in the post-Edwardian era—with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy.

Why I believe it’s great for Autumn: I saw tons of people recommend this show for Autumn, and I definitely agree with it. It’s super entertaining, yet it’s very slow. It’ll make you want to eat scones and drink tea while watching it. (We once did it with a friend of mine.) I sill haven’t finished it but I love it to death. Who wouldn’t want a period drama to watch during October?

To watch when: You made too much tea, you have free cookies waiting for you and it’s raining outside.

And that’s it! I hope that you loved it. I don’t watch a lot of tv shows anymore but do love to talk about it.

What tv show would you recommend to watch this Fall?

Love always,

Clara

  1. I’ve never watched any of these, but I’ve heard great things about most of them! I’ll definitely add Gilmore Girls to my to-watch list 😀

  2. These are all so perfect for fall. I don’t know what it is about Gilmore Girls that feels autumnal, but every September I get the itch to rewatch it. And Sabrina and Stranger Things are perfect, spooky Halloween watches.

  3. it’s not autumn where i live, but i’m always looking for show recommendations as i’ve been watching a lot more this year.
i watched stranger things back in july, which was officially the winter months for me, and i really enjoyed it. the characters were really great and it was super spooky.
as for gilmore girls and the chilling adventures of sabrina, i couldn’t find the motivation to finish either one of those. i think they’re both great shows, but they’re a bit too slow for my taste. i think i prefer shows that have either a lot more plot or that the episodes are a bit shorter.
the 70s show is available on netflix brazil so i’ll consider giving it a shot!
one show that i recommend for fall is wayne. it is a youtube original and it’s actually a lot of fun. it reminded me a lot of the end of the f***ing world, but i personally found it to be much better. it’s not spooky at all, but it’s a dark, yet funny story. unfortunately, you can only watch it if you have youtube premium, but it’s worth giving a shot!

    1. GG sure is a very sloooooooow tv show haha! I don’t mind tbh, I quite like slow plots. But I’m not a real fan of Sabrina and could live without haha, it’s not horror enough for my tastes!
Oh I’m writing this one down, thank you 😀 (unfortunately I don’t have youtube premium)
