My Peter Parker playlist and my fictional team | The Sunshine Blogger Award 🍁 πŸ„

Dear reader,

At the end of July the sweet Alexandra @ Reading by Starlight nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award and it made me the happiest! I still can’t believe people actually think of my blog from time to time and I’m extremely honoured to be nominated, though it took me a long time to write this blog post. The biggest thank you to Alexandra for this honour, and please check out her blog!

Anywho, here is my contribution to the Sunshine Blogger Award!

β₯ WHAT IS THE SUNSHINE BLOGGER AWARD?

“The Sunshine Blogger Award is all about spreading love and positivity. It’s an opportunity to give a shout out to those dedicated bloggers who fill our community with sunshine. This is a peer nominated blog award that highlights creativity and all those who inspire.”

β₯ THE RULES

  1. Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  2. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  3. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

β₯ THE QUESTIONS

  • It’s doomsday – what is the last book you want to read before the world ends?

To be honest, I think I would re-read a book instead of reading a new one if the world was coming to an end. But if I have to think of a book I’m dying to read at the moment, then it would be Pumpkinheads which is a graphic novel by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks I’ve been waiting a long time for it, ever since it was announced, and reading a sampler of it only made me want to have the book in my hands right now. I know I’ll fall in love with it no matter what.

  • Quick! I’m stuck in a slump! What’s your go-to recommendation?

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, no doubt. It’s so quick to read because there is no descriptions whatsoever, and the story is mesmerizing. I read it a couple of months ago and I still think about it. I really believe it’s the perfect book to read if you’re in a slump.

  • What is your favorite setting to read about, be it realistic or fantasy?

Definitely fantasy! Though I do not mind realistic fiction, especially when it comes to classics, I’ll always love fantasy books more than anything else, only because it always helps me better to escape reality, and also because I love how complexe the plot can get.

  • Create a 5 song playlist for any book, series or character.

For this one I tried to come up with a play list for one of my favourite character in the world, Peter Parker. Here is what I came up with:

🍁 Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus (because Peter will always be a teenager first)

🍁 I’m Still Standing by Elton John (because no matter what happened to him, like loosing his parents and his uncle, he is still fighting for what is right)

🍁 Crazy=Genius by Panic! At the Disco (because he definitely is the smartest kid in town)

🍁 Spiderman by Ramones (well, this one is obvious and I had to include it)

🍁 Kids in Love by Mayday Parade (because of Mary Jane Watson, obviously)

  • What was your last one star read? Why did you rate it so low?

I personally don’t give only one star to books, unless they are harmful (i. e. racist, homophobic etc), so I haven’t gave this rating to any book in a while as I avoid reading books which are known as problematic. The last book I gave two stars though was Poemsia by Lang Leav which was sent to me by the author, so it’s always sad to dislike something that was sent to you. I rated it so low because I found nothing that I could like in it: I disliked the characters, the storyline, the writing style and so on. I kept rolling my eyes, which is never a good sign. I still believe others can read and love it, so I wouldn’t not recommend it, but it didn’t work for me at all.

  • Who is your most recent book boyfriend and tell us what makes them so swoon-worthy?

I’m pretty loyal to my book boyfriend, who is Julian Blackthorn from the trilogy The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare, but I do have some crushes from time to time. My last crush was on Zan from Jackpot by Nic Stone. He was so sweet, so funny, so caring, that I had to fall for him.

  • Which standalone needs a sequel?

I thought a long time about this question because I read tons and tons of standalones in my life, but I decided to go with a recent one: Jackpot by Nic Stone. I definitely need a sequel for this one, like, right now.

  • Name an author you are desperate to meet and, if you met them, what would you ask them?

At the moment it’s Taylor Jenkins Reid, though I still want to meet tons of authors, but Daisy Jones and the Six is still haunting me after months, so I definitely need to meet her and to talk with her about it.

  • You a suffering through a major book hangover. What fluff book serves as the best cure?

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, 100%. This book is like a stuffed animal to me, it brings me comfort and calm and more. It will always get me out of a slump or of a book hangover.

  • A book you secretly love?

It’s not a secret but I don’t talk about this series very often because I know now how problematic it is, and it is The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. It was one of the first series I read in English and I loved it a lot. I grew up and learned more about it and then became aware of how problematic it was. I still love it, because I believe people can love problematic books as long as they acknowledge its problematic parts, but I do not want to recommend it anymore as I don’t want anyone to be hurt by those books or anything.

  • It’s time to assemble your bookish squad! Which characters make the cut?

This is one of the hardest question ever because suddenly I can’t think of a single character I ever read about. Here is what, after days of thinking, I came up with:

🍁 Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows, for his unfailing plans

🍁 Starr from The Hate U Give, for her bravery

🍁 Adrian from Renegades, for his kindness

🍁 Emoni from With the Fire on High, for her strength

🍁 Levi from Ace of Shades, for all his tricks

🍁 Rielle from Furyborn, for her ambition

β₯ WHO I NOMINATE

I won’t nominate 11 bloggers for this because I’m lazy to be totally honest, but I’m tagging Roxanne, NoΓ©mie, Lucie and Kelly nonetheless!

And here are their questions:

🍁 You can go on a date with any fictional character. Who are you going with?

🍁 What is your least favourite genre?

🍁 What is one book you are never ever planning on reading?

🍁 You read the synopsis of a book and are immediately sold because it seems to be using your favourite trope. What trope is it?

🍁 Which fictional character would make the best best friend to have?

🍁 If you could eat any snacks from a book, which one would it be? (example: butterbeer etc)

🍁 In which fictional world would you like to live?

🍁 Do you listen to music or ASMR while reading? Why/Why not?

🍁 What is your ideal reading routine?

🍁 What do you love the most about the book community?

🍁 Who is your favourite vilain and why?

🍁 Describe your current read using only emojis!

And here we are!

Now tell me: what characters would you choose to be on your team?

Love always,

Clara

  2. Clara, thank you so much for nominating me despite the fact I was absent for a while there! That means the absolute world to me β™₯ I loved reading your answers, and I agree with fantasy! It’s also my favourite genre πŸ™‚ If I had to assemble a team, it would probably be a bit like this (mind you, I did this on the fly so watch me change my mind in an hour because I love too many characters and I wanted to choose several characters in the same series):
    – Iseult det Midenzi (The Witchlands by Susan Dennard)
    – Esmae Rey (A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna)
    – Nevada Baylor (Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews)

  3. Ahh I love your answers and congratulations on the award, lovely, you really are a sunshine in the bookish community ❀ I only read Fangirl for the first time a couple weeks ago, but I can see your comparison with a stuffed animal! I can see myself going back to this book for comfort, too ❀

      1. Here’s the time when I shamefully have to admit I haven’t. * forever crying * There’s a book fair every year in my city and they have comics there for reasonable prices but I always get confused looking at them and never know where to start … So I’ve postponed it for years!!

  5. the doomsday question made me think a lot! i also feel like if the world was ending, i’d want to re-read an old favorite to make me feel more at ease. but at the same time, it would be my last opportunity to find a new favorite! it’s so weird to think about that, lol. it would be a really hard choice, i think!
also, i completely agree that daisy jones and the six is fantastic in order to get out of a reading slump. even though i was really confused at the beginning with all the names and characters, once you get the hang of it, you really fly through it!
i finished jackpot recently and i was totally crushing on zan too! it didn’t help that i was picturing him as archie from riverdale the entire time too. he was so sweet and his flirty dialogues were adorable too. i’d love to see more of these characters in a sequel! i know nic stone is writing one for dear martin, so i think it’s totally possible for one of jackpot to be released in the future.
i agree with kaz for my bookish squad, even though i don’t love him, but he’d be really necessary for his unfailing plans. i also would choose kady from the illuminae files and probably percy, because ofc, though it would be hilarious watching all these characters trying to work together.
    loved your answers!

    1. Hahaha let’s hope we’ll never have to choose if doomsday ever happens! Honestly I’m such a scared bean that I wouldn’t want to take the risk to find a new favourite… but that being said, which one of my favs would I want to re-read? This is way too hard for me, a poor indecisive libra.
I was a tad confused at first too with Daisy, especially because I was listening to it without reading the book, so I was confounding so many voices haha, but it’s worth it! I wouldn’t have read it any other way πŸ˜€
Zan is PERFECT. Nic really knows how to write men! And I can’t wait for Dear Martin 2 πŸ˜€
Oh Kady and Percy would be AMAZING for the team!
