My last 5 stars reads in aesthetics ๐ŸŒŸ

Dear reader,

It has been hard for me this year to find new favourites. As time passes I become more and more critical when it comes to books. That’s why I wanted to honour some of my last 5 stars reads on this blog post, to maybe make you want to pick them up too. Some I gave five stars because they blew my mind, some because they entertained me until the end, others even because they made me cry and feel represented…

So here we go for my last 5 stars reads, but in aesthetics!

Warning: None of those pictures are mine, I found them all on Pinterest. I apologize for not having found who took them originally.

โฅย JACKPOT BY NIC STONE

Why I gave it 5 stars:ย Jackpot was the best romance driven plot I read in way too long. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I kept wanting to pick it up. I adore Nic Stone and everything she writes (especially men, this woman has a talent for writing amazing book boyfriends), and this book was not an exception.

โฅ HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS BY J. K. ROWLING AND ILLUSTRATED BY JIM KAY (re-read)

Why I gave it 5 stars:ย Though I will always cherish theย Harryย Potterย series, re-reading them with the illustrated version sure is a totally different experience and I loved every single minute of this re-read. It was intoxicating and I simply couldn’t stop reading it. (So much that I ruined my buddy read with my friend Roxanne and didn’t even wait for her to be back from work.)

โฅ SUMMER BIRD BLUE BY AKEMI DAWN BOWMAN

Why I gave it 5 stars:ย I was expecting a lot from this one, and it truly delivered. It made me feel seen and represented for the first time (though I’m only on the asexual spectrum and am not aromantic), and it made me feel better about my grief as well.

โฅย ACE OF SHADES BY AMANDA FOODY

Why I gave it 5 stars:ย Was it the best book ever written? No. Did it make me obsessed because of the world building and the characters? Hell, yes. I simply need to pick up the sequel.

โฅย DAISY JONES AND THE SIX BY TAYLOR JENKINS-REID (audiobook)

Why I gave it 5 stars:ย Finally, the piรจce of rรฉsistance. My ultimate favourite of 2019 and a new favourite in general. I went into this one expecting nothing and when I finished it I was so mad at the characters (not the author, as if the characters were alive or as if the author had no choice but to write them this way) that I gave it 4.5 stars… But after dreaming about it every night for a whole week and thinking of it constantly, I changed it to 5 stars. This book intoxicated me and gave me something I never knew I needed. The audiobook is the best one I ever listened to and I can’t wait to finally buy the book to re-read it.

Tadam!

I hope that you loved this new kind of blog posts. I have been wanting to write one like this for so long, and I’m glad I finally did.

Have you read any of those books? What is the last book you gave 5 stars to? What do you look for in a 5 stars read?

Love always,

Clara

  1. I love this post! Don’t forget: I was late for the buddy read aswell, so don’t feel guilty! I totally understand the attraction of Harry Potter, and the illustrated book is so GOOD and SPECIAL. I can recommend it more and more every day. I am very excited to read the 3rd book soon โค Summer Bird Blue and Daisy Jones & the Six are two of my favourites of the year and very close to my heart. I am very happy that we had some reads in common. I love talking to you about books we read both and during the same period. Love, Rox โค
