Five books to take with you on your first day back to class πŸ‚

Dear reader,

It’s back to school season! Though I know it’s not everyone’s favourite or that not all of you are actually going to school anymore, I still wanted to present you some books I think would be great for September.

So without further ado here are five books to take with you on your first day back to school!

I know that all I do on this blog is recommending Fangirl any time I can, but it truly is one of the best books I ever read in my entire life. I first read it when I started university and it helped me deal with a lot of things. Though it is a slow paced book, I would highly recommend it if you love real and flawed characters, a university setting and if you were a fan of Harry Potter growing up. This book is like a cup of Pumpkin Spice Latte and it’ll be your best companion on your first day back to school.

This one isn’t one of my favourite books ever but I do believe that it’ll be great to read it while going back to school. It is set at university and deals a lot with making friends and being yourself, which can scare a lot of us when started something new. Though I don’t think it’s the most amazing book ever it sure is quick to read and will be perfect for some long train rides between your school and your home.

I read this book years ago, so don’t take it as a book recommended by 2019!Clara but as a book recommended by a younger Clara who used to love romance. I believe it’s the last romance book I read and loved, which says a lot. It had everything I loved in it, including a university setting, and though it deals with mentions of rape it never triggered me, which was a first for me. It’s sweet, cute and sometimes, well dare I say it, sexy. It’ll be easy to get into and to keep reading while you’ll be stressed with homework. The perfect evening treat after a long day focusing on lectures.

This one is a middle grade novel, and a part of it is set in a magical school. It’ll be easy to read and it’s also super fascinating. The story itself is amazing but I truly believe this book is perfect for September. Keeper of the Lost Cities feels like a warm hug after a hard day, I promise. It’ll be your best friend if you ever feel lonely at school.

Finally I had to recommend yet again Vicious, as it is one of my favourite books ever. If you are looking for something dark set at university and engrossing, I would highly recommend this one. It’ll put you in a great autumnal mood and will make you obsessed. Don’t be afraid to pick this one up!

And that’s all for me!

I hope that you loved this list. I always adore making them and this time of the year is my favourite, as it always means new beginnings for me but also getting back to being organized. I was thinking of maybe writing more about school and studying around here, please tell me if you would be interested!

What book would you take with you on your first day back to school?

Love always,

  1. I remember reading Fangirl years ago and completely and utterly LOVING it πŸ’— I haven’t reread it since, and I don’t think I will but it brings back good memories! And I keep seeing Keeper of The Lost Cities lately, and I’m intrigued ! It’s middle grade right? I’ll have to read it someday!
It was a lovely post Clara! πŸ’–

    1. Ah Fangirl *sigh* the love of my life! It’s crazy how good this book makes me feel. I’m almost done re-reading it and it’s breaking my heart – I don’t want to leave it yet again!
KOTLC is middle grade indeed! I really love it, I actually started reading them because I met the author at a bookfair in Paris a while ago now and I never regretted it. I’m so glad it’s getting more and more attention now!
Thank you for your comment and kind words, NoΓ©mie xx

  2. I still have yet to read Fangirl and Vicious! I especially need to read the latter since I’m such a big fan of Schwab’s works. Keeper of the Lost Cities sounds like such a fun and quick book to read! A friend of mine swears by that series, so perhaps I should finally pick up the first book, this school year! Lovely post, Clara! ❀

  3. This is a lovely list, Clara ❀ I am only now reading Fangirl for the first time but already I can see why you love it so much and how comforting of a read it would be for the back to school season. I can't wait to read it all and fall in love with it ❀
