Dear reader,
And just like that it’s the end of those summer recommendations! I am now going missing until September because I’m currently in Corsica, relaxing and working on some things for my new job. I can’t wait to be back to you!
For now, let’s jump into some classics to read this summer!
❥ Frenchman’s Creek by Daphne du Maurier
I read this book last Autumn and I believe it’s quite perfect for both seasons. It takes place near the sea, it’s dark and completely gripping. I fell in love with Daphne’s work thanks to this book and I will never stop recommending it.
❥ Emma by Jane Austen
Emma is such a sweet and funny book, I had to add it here. I believe it’ll be perfect to read somewhere peaceful during your summer vacations – it’s easy to read and the story itself makes you want to keep going!
❥ Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy
I read this book a while ago now and absolutely adore it. It wasn’t a surprise as Thomas Hardy is one of my favourite author of all time! I don’t know exactly why I believe this book will be great for the summer but the story and the characters are so amazing and unique, I’m sure it’s a quick and light read.
❥ Le Lys dans la vallée by Honoré de Balzac
The Lily of the Valley is one of my favourite classics of all time, so I had to recommend it. It’s a tragic love story happening in the countryside in France which will make you want to fall in love but will also most likely break your heart. I love the main character Félix so much and I only want him to be happy.
❥ Corinne ou l’Italie by Madame de Staël
I read this book a while ago now (I believe it’s been translated as Corinne) and I adored it. A part of the book takes place in Italy and I’m sure it’ll be quite a great read to take with you on your summer vacations. It has a lot of drama, of love and more!
And that’s it! I’ll miss you guys!
What are some classics you would recommend for the summer?
Love always,
Clara
I love Far From the Madding Crowd! I definitely need to read more Thomas Hardy. And Emma is such a lovely book for summer–all that romance and drama! A classic beach read 🙂

Great choices. Far From the Madding Crowd is one of my favourite classics. In terms of classics this summer, I was reading East of Eden by Steinbeck and am now planning to read Lost Illusions by Balzac.
