Dear reader,
I have never been the kind of girl to love summer. As a baby I used to be terrified of water (my parents told me it was impossible to make me take a bath and that I would scream even when they went into the sea) and then I started to dislike the heat as a teenager. Eventually I started being okay with everything that made summer: the heat, the sea, mostly ice creams and more. For once I actually am excited about it and to enjoy every second of it! And to do so I obviously made myself a small TBR.
So here are five books I want to read this summer! ☀🌊🍦
❥ There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon
I read When Dimple Met Rishi and From Twinkle, With Love in 2018, so it makes sense that I would want to read this one. Sandhya is one of my favourite authors to read during either spring or summer and I simply cannot wait to be sunbathing while reading There’s Something About Sweetie. I already know it’ll be sweet, funny and insanely cute.
❥ We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia
This book has been on my radar for so long, it definitely is time for me to read it. I have no idea why it would make a great summer read but I know that it must be a great time to dive into it. This book is a fantasy YA novel and as someone who reads ton of contemporaries during spring and summer I will have to get back to my favourite genre which is fantasy from time to time, so this book will be perfect for me.
❥ Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I recently read and adored The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, so it makes sense that I want to dive into this one as soon as possible. I will probably listen to it because I keep hearing how amazing the audiobook is, but I can already picture myself laying on the beach with this story in my ears and the sound of waves somewhere near. *happy sigh*
❥ The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
I just bought this book recently because I wanted to read it right before meeting Samantha at YALC, so in a few weeks. I absolutely cannot wait to dive into this one, the cover is super summery (it’s orange and it’s enough for me lol) and I know I’ll end up adoring it. Again, it’s a fantasy novel so it’ll be perfect as it is my favourite genre after all!
❥ Nocturna by Maya Motayne
And here we go for another YA fantasy novel! Just like We Set the Dark on Fire I have been waiting for this one for a long time now, so I think it’s time for me to read it. Again, the cover seems summery… Right? I honestly can’t wait to pick it up.
And that’s all for me!
What about you? Have you read some of those? Do you want to? What are some books you want to read this summer?
Love always,
Clara
Ooh some great picks!
I’m particularly excited to read Sweetie! I loved When Dimple Met Rishi, although I still have yet to read Twinkle 🙂
