The tropes book tag

Sans titre 1.png

Dear reader,

Now that I am back I decided to catch up on all the book tags people tagged me on. I am starting with the tropes book tag, created by Jes Reads Books. Romie tagged me to do so, who is a great friend of mine and a girl I truly admire. I highly recommend you all to follow her blog. Anyway, thank you, Romie!

Without further ado, let‘s jump into the tropes book tag!

Hopelessly Devoted: name two characters from separate series that you ship.

That is such a hard question because I never really think about characters outside of their own stories. I guess that if I really have to think of it I would ship Simon from Simon VS. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli with Adrian from Renegades by Marissa Meyer. I think Simon would be really attracted to the nerdy side of Adrian, yet Adrian is also very brave and I believe Simon would find him cute. And Adrian would love Simon for his humour, loyalty and kindness. I can really picture them both together and they would look adorable.

Damsel In Distress: name a female MC who didn’t need a man to complete her.

With this one, I have to go with Diana Wrayburn from the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare. She is such a strong character who definitely needs no man to complete her. She knows she is a whole and that she deserves everything good. She always fights for her happiness and put herself first because she knows she matters and that she has to take care of herself no matter what.

Love at first sight: name your OTP.

Growing up my OTP was Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, well not the canon!Draco with the canon!Hermione but another version of Draco who would have a good side and who would not only be a bully. I still ship them and am seriously considering rewriting my fan fiction… Otherwise my current OTP is Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn from the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare, as I would go down with this ship. But for this question, I decided to go back to the Harry Potter world and to make Lily Evans and James Potter my OTP, just like Romie did. I adore the marauders era and their love kept me awake many, many nights. I love them and will always ship them.

Mental Illness As A Quirk: name a book that represented mental illness well.

I have read many books that represented mental illness well, mostly because I am really trying to raise awareness towards mental illness. Those who have been following me for a while knows I am suffering from many, many things, and that I do love to read about it. The last book that really resonated in me was Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne. I too suffer from OCD, just like the MC, and the representation felt right. I really could see myself and have actually been in many situations the MC faced.

The Chose One: name a main character that did (or almost did) ruin a series for you.

For this one, I have to go with Lara Jean from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series by Jenny Han. I know, it’s a very unpopular opinion. Yet, I disliked her a lot and she did ruin it for me as I never kept reading the series. I know many people found themselves within her, so I won’t use this blog post as an excuse to trash talk on her but I simply didn’t like her.

Friends to Lovers: name a duo that went from friendship goals to relationship goals.

I could go with Emma and Julian from the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare but I decided to choose Cath and Levi from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, one of my all time favourite books. This ship always makes me feel tons and tons of things, and I’m only dreaming of a relationship like that, mostly because they started as friends.

Amnesia: name a book you would forget for one reason or another.

Well, I would love to forget ever trying to read Without Merit by Colleen Hoover. I had to stop reading as it was making me physically sick, triggering me way too much. I used to love what she wrote but now it’s too much and I don’t like her books at all anymore. Without Merit sincerely disgusted me and triggered me so much that I really wish I would forget all about it.

Bad Boys: name your favorite villain.

Because it would be spoilery I can’t name my ultimate favourite villain. If I have to go with my second favourite, it would be Queen Levanna from the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. She is so complex and incredibly evil, I love being scared by her so much.

Missing Parents or Adults: name a book that could have benefited from a bit of parental guidance or adult supervision.

I think the characters from the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout could have used a bit of parental guidance. I know they had parents but it felt like they didn’t, and even though I loved the first book the rest of the series really bored me and I wish the characters were a bit more mature and thoughtful.

Girl/Guy Gang: tag some friends.

I am tagging Noémie, Marie, Lucie and Kelly.

And here we are! If you want to do it, consider yourself tag!

Which characters from different series would you ship? Tell me all!

Love always,

  1. First of all, thank you SO MUCH for tagging me! My brain is already working to think of answers, I can tell it’s gonna be a hard one haha I can’t say I’m surprised you’ve mentioned The Dark Artifices a few times! I’m super curious about Am I Normal yet? because I want to see more good mental health representation 🙂

  2. Great answers for this tag! The first time I read TATBILB, I also didn’t like Lara Jean and thought she was super annoying. Upon continuing and rereading the series though, she kind of grew on me, but I can totally see what you mean.

  3. Lovely answers, Clara! I haven’t read Simon vs the Homo Sapiens yet, but I think it would be so sweet of him and Adrian hit it off, since one of Adrian’s dad’s name is Simon as well! Haha! 😊 Am I Normal Yet is on my tbr! Also, I definitely agree with Queen Levana!

Thanks so so so much for the tag, lovely! 💕
